What we do with our by-product: utilizing everything and wasting nothing
In every stage of the potato process, by-products are created. Small scraps during cutting, potatoes that are just too small for fries, or pieces that don’t meet the standard shape. Yet, we throw nothing away. We believe in a no waste approach where every potato counts, big or small. This way, we not only create delicious products but also contribute to a more sustainable food system.
Small potatoes get a valuable destination
Small potatoes that don’t meet the standard size for fries are present in every harvest. Although they are often overlooked, they deserve a valuable destination. That’s why we process these smaller potatoes into flavorful potato wedges, giving them a second life as a popular product for consumers.
Moreover, we are working on developing chips made from these little ones. This ensures that no potato goes unused and we expand our sustainable range.
Potato scraps? Smart reuse as animal feed
During the cutting of potatoes, small scraps are always produced that are not suitable for human consumption. Fortunately, this doesn’t mean they go to waste. These potato scraps are still of high quality and contain many nutrients.
That’s why they are carefully collected and reused as nutritious animal feed. In this way, we give by-products a valuable destination within agriculture, contribute to a circular economy, and ensure that as little as possible is wasted.
Collaboration with No Waste Army
Additionally, we have started a collaboration with No Waste Army, an organization dedicated to combating vegetable and fruit waste and giving these products a valuable, new destination. Together, we are committed to saving as many potatoes from Dutch soil as possible and processing them into delicious products.
This way, we prevent valuable potatoes from being unnecessarily lost and contribute to a fairer and more sustainable food system. Want to know more about our collaboration and the initiative? Check out the article from No Waste Army here!
